The Ali A. Mazrui Memorial Library in partnership with the US Embassy has emphasized on promoting education and empowers the public through programs and activities.
The Centre has community outreaches to provide motivational talks to students and create awareness of the resources, services and activities undertaken at the centre. The program is designed to bring the students to the centre, improve access and availability of resources including computers, internet, counseling, career guidance which are offered for free. This has resulted in an increase in library attendance to 68,486, internet usage
17,116 and students prospering to the next level of excellence performance.
We have incorporated programs for people who are using drugs by providing comprehensive information during Family Therapy sessions with PWUDs and their families, promoting resources and programs which will benefit the PWUDs at the completion of their rehabilitation exercise. PWUDs are incorporated within the AS Mombasa programs on Entrepreneurship, Learning American English, Young African Leaders Initiative program (YALI) and English- speaking club’s programs. In 2017, 200 PWUDs trained on Entrepreneurship; 150 YALI, 35 joined the English-Speaking Club and 20 learnt Basic Computer Literacy.
