Welcome to Muslim Education & Welfare Association
Muslim Education and Welfare Association (MEWA) is a non – profit organization, which began as a group of young Muslim professionals working in Mombasa, interested in improving the educational and welfare standards of the Muslim Community. MEWA was first registered under the Societies Act as (No. 13265) an association on July 31, 1986.
It currently runs three main projects:Our Background
MEWA later expanded its objectives to include provision of affordable healthcare, welfare and harm reduction programs. As a result of rapid expansion and to attract both local and international donors, MEWA changed its status to a non-governmental organization (NGO) and was registered in 1995 under the NGOs Coordination Act, 1990. MEWA has been implementing its activities to benefit all and does not discriminate based on color, race, ethnicity, creed, disability, religion or any other biases.
