Make A Difference
MEWA (Muslim Education and Welfare Association), established in 1994, is a non-profit making and non-governmental local organization, established to contribute towards providing, enabling and promoting the culture and best practices in education, research, health care, socio-cultural and economic enrichment of society. MEWA also aims to reduce harm related to drug and substance use by promoting access to health and social justice
MEWA Health & Rights Centre’s 2021-2025 Five Years Strategic Plan builds on the successes and lessons from the implementation and evaluation of the previous Plan ending December 2019.
Our Background
The HARM Reduction Programme has a dream built on aspiration and commitment, – ”is to facilitate and strengthen Universal Health Care coverage and promote Access to Social Justice for people who use drugs in Mombasa, Kilifi Counties and Lamu Counties, through equitable resources”
This among other things will go a long way to reduce harm related to Narcotic and Psychotropic substances and create demand and utilization of harm reduction, health and rights services. Harm Reduction shall be achieved gradually because ‘a journey of thousand steps starts with the first step’.
Our Objectives
Programmes
The program has saved my life…My sessions have impacted my life and brought out things I truly believed I would never tell a soul. I have made some new friends who share in my treatment. I am a strong-minded, thickheaded person who is shocked how well I have taken to this program and will continue with therapy as long as they will grace me with be a part of group.
